The City of Geneva is accepting applications for APOST. Certified Police Officers and Non-Certified Police Officers.
APOST Certified Officers must be in good standings and up to date on qualifications.
Non-Certified applicants being considered for employment must complete a Basic Aptitude Test (BAT), perform a physical agility course that is set to APOST standards, and submit to a physical and required back ground check. Applicants meeting all testing requirements, that are chosen for potential employment, must successfully complete an Alabama Police Academy within timeframes established by the State. Prior to entering the Academy, the potential employee will be required to agree to a three-year contract.
This position requires shift, weekend and holiday work.

The City of Geneva has an opening for the position of an Equipment Operator-II, in the Street/Sanitation Department. This position requires a class A or B CDL driver and equipment operator along with other miscellaneous work. Starting pay is $16.00 an hour.

1. Agriculture and diesel technicians- Wallace Community College is scheduled to begin a 1 year program in May 2016. Employment opportunities at local tractor dealerships and trucking companies. Costs will be associated.
2. Sheet metal workers - Wallace Community College is scheduled to begin a program to train sheet metal worker. Classes set to begin in 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year. Costs will be associated.
3. Machining program - AIDT set to begin in 2nd or 3rd month training program in April 2016. Employment opportunities at local machine shops. No costs for selected participants.
4. CJet Academy - on going training for jobs at Commercial Jet - apply at www.aidt.edu; nest class set to begin April 8 and classes every 8 weeks till end of 2016; Please note that soft skills and some industrial related technical skills are necessary. No costs for selected participants.
